William A Sweet-Escott
William Arthur Sweet-Escott was born in 1897 or 1898 and was the son of William Sydney and Ethel Sweet Escott. In 1911 William and Ethel were living at 42 Victoria Road with daughter Ethel born 1896 and sons Horace and Thomas. There was no trace of William Arthur in the 1911 census. He served in H Q 50 Brigade, the Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery with the rank of Lieutenant. William died of wounds on 14th October 1918 aged 20 and is buried at VI. D. 38. Dadizeele New British Cemetery. He is commemorated on Grave L70 in St Augustine’s churchyard.
