G Victor Morgan
George Victor Morgan was born in Penarth in 1898, the son of Thomas Edwin and Mary Morgan. In 1911 he was living at 8 Grove Place with his parents Thomas and Mary and siblings Mabel, Edwin, William and Ernest. He attended The National School (now St Cyres). Victor served in 1/4th Battalion, Prince of Wales’s Volunteers (South Lancashire Regiment) with the rank of Private (service number 34101). He was killed in action at the Battle of the Somme on 23rd August 1916 aged 19. Victor is commemorated on Pier and Face 7 A and 7 B., Thiepval Memorial.
