Richard Bendon
Richard Bendon was born in Bridgewater in 1882, the son of Richard and Elizabeth Bendon. He married Ada and in 1911 they lived at 36, John Street with their daughter Mabel. Richard was a dock labourer. He enlisted on 24th September 1914 and served in the Royal Field Artillery as a Gunner (service number 1415). Richard died on 10th April 1917 and is buried in grave C 95 Penarth Cemetery. On 29th June 1917 Ada was awarded a pension of 26/3d per week for herself and 3 children. Army records show Richard Bendon as being 5ft 7¼” tall and having a fully extended chest measurement of 36″, range of expansion 2″.
