Oliver J Hughes
Oliver James Hughes was the son of Joseph Francis and Emily Hughes and in 1911 lived with them and his brothers Joseph and John at 11, Rudry Street, Penarth. He was a grocer’s apprentice. Oliver was married to Beatrice. He served in the 6th Battalion, the South Wales Borderers with the rank of Private (service number 46969). Oliver was killed in action on 28th May 1918 aged 23 and is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial. He formerly served in the Welch Regiment (service number (23124).
