Edward Davis
Edward (k/a Eddie) was born in Newport, Monmouthshire in 1895. In 1911 he was a junior clerk and lived with his parents William and Alice Davis and his sister of Maud at 9 New Plassey Street, Penarth (now part of Plassey Street). Edward served in the 8th Service Battalion, the South Staffordshire Regiment with the rank of Private (service number 14372). He was killed in action on 15th February 1916 during a German assault on the trenches and is commemorated on the Menin Gate at Ypres (Thomas Jefferies died at the same time).
