Richard J Pawley
Richard James Pawley was born in Penarth in 1887 and was baptised on 17th June 1887, the son of George, a rigger, and Mary Pawley of 115 Maughan Street. Arthur Pawley was also baptised. In 1901 he was a draper’s assistant and lived at 16 Paget Terrace with his parents George and Mary and siblings William, Ada, Harry, Arthur, Elizabeth and Margaret. By 1911 Richard was still a draper’s assistant but had moved to 30 Sinclair Mansions, Fulham, London where he was boarding with George Limbrick. Richard served in 92nd Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. He may have served in the RAF. His rank was Second Lieutenant. Richard died on 28th November 1918 and is buried at 197, Seaford Cemetery.
