Joseph Kenny
Joseph Kenny was born in Penarth in 1889. In 1911 he was employed as a carter (hay and corn) and lived at 9 Salop Street, Penarth with his mother Louisa Kenny, and brother Albert. In 1901 he was living at 51 Salop Street with his widowed mother, Louisa, and brothers Edward, Frederick, Ivor and Albert. His father, William, died in 1895. Joseph served in “A” Battery. 50th Brigade, the Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery and his rank was P/L/BDR. (pres P(?) Lance Bombardier (service number 97499). He died on 14th November 1918 aged 30 and is buried at VI. F. 6A., Les Baraques Military Cemetery, Sangatte. He is commemorated on St Paul’s Roll of Honour as is his brother Albert Henry Kenny.
Albert died late 1920/early 1921 aged 26. He was baptised on 15th January 1895, the son of William Joseph and Louisa Kenny of 9 Bromfield Place. Father’s occupation given as plasterer.
