John R Thomas
John Baron Rittson Thomas was born in Penarth in 1898, the son of George and Henrietta Elizabeth Thomas. In 1911 he was living at 118 Plymouth Road, Penarth with his parents George and Henrietta Thomas and his brothers Charles, Edward and Stephen. John served in the 4th Battalion (attached 2nd Battalion), the Manchester Regiment. He was killed in action on 18th April 1918 aged 20 and is buried at B. 18., Quesnoy Farm Military Cemetery.
Charles and John Thomas are commemorated by the West (Warrior) Window in St Augustine’s church.
