Francis Bartlett
Francis Bartlett was born in Penarth in 1885, the son of Frank and Mary Bartlett. In 1901 he was living at 57 Ludlow Street with his parents Frank and Mary and siblings Ernest, Ethel, Gladys and Stanley and his cousin Blanche Brown. He was a mason’s labourer. Francis served in the 2nd battalion, the Royal Irish Regiment and was killed in action aged 29 on 23rd August 1914 just weeks after the outbreak of the war.
