Edwin Boyle
Edwin was born in Cardiff in 1889. In 1911 he was employed as a general labourer and was living at 38 King Street, Penarth with his mother Rachel, sister Sarah Mathews, brother-in-law Martin Mathews and nieces and nephew James, Beatrice, Olive, Bessie and Ernest. He was the brother of John Boyle. Married before the war, he lived in Barry with his wife. Edwin was a boxer and a member of Penarth Rugby Football Club (from ‘Penarth Times’). He served in 113th Siege Battalion, Royal Garrison Artillery with the rank of Sergeant (service number 348060). Edwin was killed in action on 15/10/1917 and is buried at Menin Road South Military Cemetery Ypres, Grave 11 L.21.
