Edward Beresford
Edward Beresford was born at Old Hill, Staffordshire. He joined Glamorgan Constabulary 20th August 1910 and in 1911 was lodging at 44 High Street, Barry. In 1914 Edward was a constable stationed in Penarth and he enlisted on 7th September 1914. He was the son of Edward Beresford of Pentre, Rhondda. Three brothers also served in the army (info from SW Police). He served in the 8th Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment with the rank of Sergeant (service number 14215). Edward was killed in action on 10th July 1916 and is commemorated on Pier and Face 7 B. Thiepval Memorial. .
