E Charles Whiley
Edward Charles Whiley was born in Penarth in 1888, the son of Mary Ann Whiley and brother of Elizabeth and Albert. In 1911 the family lived at 55 Plassey St, Penarth and Edward was working as a tailor. He served in the 18th Battalion, the Welsh Regiment with the rank of Lance Corporal (service number 27906). Edward was killed in action on 24th November 1917 and is buried at II. G. 15., Anneux British Cemetery. He is also commemorated on St Paul’s Roll of Honour.
