Albert W E Howells
Albert William E Howells was born in Penarth in 1896. In 1901 he was living at 24 Maughan Street, Penarth with his parents William and Emily Howells, sisters Catherine and Clarrie, and aunt Martha Johns, but in 1911 he was resident in Ty Segur Reformatory School, Glamorgan Farm School, Neath, S Wales. His mother, Emily, now a widow lived at 5 Dock Rd, Penarth with her children Clarrice (13), Doris (9) and Sidney (6). Albert served in the 8th Battalion, the Royal Welsh Fusiliers with the rank of Private (service number 12309). He died of wounds in Mesopotamia on 20th February 1917 and is buried at XXVI. F. 2., Amara War Cemetery.
