Frank Hutchings
Frank Hutchings was born in Penarth on the 24th November 1907, the son of Frank and Jane Hutchings (Davies). In 1933 Frank married Irene G Burnell in Bournemouth. Is occupation was given as General labourer, enlisted (in Reserve?) 27th July 1927. In 1911, Frank, 31, Jane, 28, Honor May, Frank aged 3, and Marjorie Gertrude Hutchings lived at 16 Bromfield (1911 census). In 1939, Frank, Jane and Marjorie G Hutchings, lived at 1a Bromfield Place. Irene G Hutchings a part time domestic servant lived at 17 Covena Road, Bournemouth. Irene later remarried to become Mrs Phillips.
Frank served in the Royal Artillery. His rank was Warrant Officer Class II and his service number was 1072496. Frank was killed in action on the 12th February 1944 aged 36 off East Africa, at sea en route for India and is commemorated on Column 1, East Africa Memorial, Kenya.
