Joseph H Williams
Joseph Henry Williams was born in Penarth, the son of Joseph Albert and Elizabeth Harriet Williams and brother of Jack and William. In 1911 he was a drapery apprentice (wholesale) and the family lived at 11 Dingle Road, Penarth. He served in the 2nd Battalion, the South Staffordshire Regiment with the rank of Lance Corporal (service number 13548). Joseph was killed in action on 28th April 1917 aged 23 and is buried in II. J. 6., Orchard Dump Cemetery, Arleux-en-Gohelle. He is also commemorated on grave F35 in St Augustine’s churchyard.
