Rees John
Rees John was born in Penarth, the son of William and Ann John. He may be Rees John, born Penarth 1883, a farm labourer living at 7 Maughan St with his sisters, Emma and Jennet and niece Maud in 1911. William John, a widower working as a farm labourer was living at 41 Plassey Street in 1911. Rees Served in the 1st Battalion, the Welsh Guards with the rank of Private (service number 2679). He died of wounds on 28th September 1918 aged 34 and was buried at XII. E. 16., Grevillers British Cemetery.
