Enoch Davies
Enoch (Rev E.T.) was born in Carmarthen in 1874. In 1911 he lived at 7 Clive Crescent with his wife Elizabeth and their daughters Kathleen and Irene. He served as Chaplain in the 5th Battalion, the Welsh Regiment. Enoch died at home in Penarth on 6th October 1918 aged 44 and is buried in St Augustine’s churchyard (NW door next to the Wakeford grave). Information from Penarth Rugby Football Club – Chaplain of the 5th Battalion Welsh Regiment and Official at St Augustine’s Church, Penarth. Due to ill health was discharged from the Army. However, he joined the Church Army and served in France until his health deteriorated further and returned to Penarth. A memorial service was held for him at St Paul’s on 20th October 1918 and the Roll of Honour was given in his memory. Enoch played football and cricket and was selected for Welsh rugby trial matches.
