Reginald V Cleves
Reginald was born in Cardiff on 25th November 1896 and was the son of Frederick Vaughan Cleves and Annie Maria Cleves, of 14, Woodland Place, Penarth. In 1911 he was living at 10 Longcross Street, Cardiff with his parents, Frederick and Annie and his grandmother Sarah Marsh. Reginald served in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Hood Bn. R.N. Div. His rank was Sub-Lieutenant (service number Z/374). He was killed in action on 23rd April 1917 aged 21 and is buried at XXX. B. 70. Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez. Reginald formerly worked with the Merchant Service with Messrs. Holder, Middleton & Co. of London. He was a Freemason (Venerable Prince Llewellyn Lodge, Porthcawl) and was educated at St Mary’s Hall, Cardiff. He was formerly a member of St German’s Choir and the Church Lads Brigade.
