Frank Blackmore
Frank was born in Carmarthen in 1879. He married Elizabeth and in 1911 they were living at 40 Hewell Street, Cogan with their daughters Gwladys, Doris, Hilda, Mabel and Edith. Frank was a cement worker. Frank and Elizabeth had 6 daughters and Elizabeth was pregnant when Frank died. An ex-member of Penarth Rugby Football Club, he played for Penarth United the season they won the Cardiff & District League. Member of Holy Nativity and St Paul’s Church (from ‘Penarth Times’) .He served in the 16th Battalion, the Welsh Regiment with the rank of (service number 24082). Frank was killed in action on 10th July 1916 and is commemorated on Pier and Face 7 A and 10 A. Thiepval Memorial.
